Sorry for the lack of updates lately - between work and baking in 114° heat, I just haven’t had it in me to post anything lately.
Not a whole lot going on here, though we did have a recent incident of note. Yesterday morning, Glenna and I were awoken to the sound of our cat Mau hocking up something on our bedroom carpet. Upon further inspection, it appeared that at some point she had eaten one of Glenna’s hair bands (not to be confused with those other types of hair bands) and felt that it was time to dislodge it. Worst still, downstairs several more could be found, lined up in a tidy little “snake” of vomit stretching across the floor (thankfully, Pergo is easier to clean than carpet).
We’re not sure why our cat would eat well over a half dozen hair bands, other than that she was really hungry. The theory is that she wasn’t liking the cat door I recently installed between our house and garage - she’s a bit of a scaredy cat, all things considered - and opted to eat rubber wrapped in nylon rather than risk life and limb running through a little hole to get at her food. We put her next to her food bowl every morning so she could eat, but presumedly at some point she was too impatient to wait and looked around for the next best thing. Unfortunately, one or two of the things made their way down to her small intestine and are unlikely to come back out, so yesterday afternoon she got a trip to the vet.
Anyhow, a day and roughly $1,200 later she is recovering from a successful surgery and should be back on her feet soon. Rest assured, from now on hair bands will be removed from the menu.
