I recently had a chance to venture out on my own with my new lenses and do a little landscape scouting. Not having any particular destination in mind, I eventually decided to check out Chino Hills State Park (noteworthy for me in part because the western edge of the park is just a few miles east of where I work, though this time I visited it from the east entrance, along the 71 freeway).

Probably the coolest thing about the place to me is just how close it is to the hustle and bustle of both Los Angeles and Orange counties - straddling the border between the two, in fact. And, yet, sitting out there among the sparse hills and wildflowers, the signs of civilization are pretty minimal - and all you can hear is the wind as it blows through the tall grasses that line the various trails.

I unfortunately didn’t have a chance to spend very long in the park and didn’t get much in the way of pictures, but I did manage to capture a few that I liked. They can be found in the photo gallery.
